Thanks - and hope to hear from you again.

Hello Jill Kuykendall :)

I'm a young writer and wiccan from ontario, and right now working on a kind of supernaturally thriller novel. While some of the stories content is naturally outside the realm of possibility, I would like to keep much of the content realistic, like some of the rites the main character does, and in particular, a soul retrieval.

In the story, the main character goes out of his way to attempt a banned necromancy spell. In failing to do the spell properly, he suffers the loss of his soul, resulting in a comma. From here, some of the other characters then have to try and get his soul back. I was thinking of doing a scene where they do to see a shaman. She helps the friends to go into the astral plane to try and find there friends soul. I don't know if there is any actual ritual similar to this, but I'd like to learn about the various tools and methods that you may practise in a soul retrieval so that I can give the story that touch of realism with the fiction.

I want people to both learn some stuff about shamans from this, and give it that realism for people already educated about them. The issue being, I don't know a lot about shamans, or there rituals (idk if that's at all the right term, I just now in wicca we refer to these kinds of works as rites, sorry) Or the tools used. Naturally I could just put in another wiccan character and make something up, but I want this story to have some different peoples and believes that all kinda flow together.

I'd love to hear from you and get your help with my story if you have the time and are interested :) I left my email and name above, though I tend to just go by Bay :) Have an awesome day, thank you for reading my message.
