Distant Healing Work For The People Of Haiti

This past weekend (Jan 15-17), I led a weekend workshop on Maui for 22 souls. While drumming for the group, I continually made short shamanic journeys into the dream aspect of Haiti, during which I connected with the Vodou gods (the loa) specifically with Barron, the lord of the cemetaries; Grand-bois, the healing god; La Sirene, the Haitian version of Yemaya the queen of the seas; Erzulie, the goddess of love; and Papa-legba, the gate keeper, to facilitate and help alleviate the suffering of the dead, as well as the living.Read more

An Encounter With a Jinn (Genie) In Egypt

Last Sunday (Jan. 3, 2010) I gave a talk to the New Thought Church in Kealakekua (on Hawaii Island) about something extraordinary that happened to me recently in Egypt.

Our travel group was exploring a large mortuary temple called Medinet Habu near the Valley of the Kings on December 10 when two of my friends, Lorenzo and Coyote (aka Lawrence and Barry), told me they had gotten a huge energy surge in a small shrine near the entrance of the complex.

On The Shaman's Path - Egypt

I’m again departing for Egypt with this year’s travel group and by the time you read this I will most likely already be there. So here are a few thoughts shared from last year’s journey.Read more

An Encounter In Egypt with Isis

Many of my writings explore the issue of what it is like to make connection with the archetypal forces that are often referred to as ‘the spirits.'

In approaching this subject, I am well aware that the whole issue of contact with transpersonal beings is a problematic one for us Westerners because we do not grow up in a culture in which connection with spirits is part of our ongoing experience. In fact many of our fundamentalist religious sects (with great righteousness) warn against having any contact with spirits because they are ‘evil.'

This monumental misconception has generated widespread fear in the populace at large that, in turn, has created separation between us and those transpersonal allies who are poised to help us in various ways.Read more

In the King's Chamber...Once Again

In December of 2008, Jill and I led a travel group to Egypt during which many insights were gained and many had transpersonal connections with the localities that we visited. This account is taken from my notes on the day we entered the King's Chamber in the Great Pyramid at Giza.Read more

The Courage to Create a Blog Entry

If only..... blogs wrote themselves. Sigh.

Storywriting is very different than storytelling, my preferred version. Yet I have been told that I write really good personal, pen-scripted letters (yes - another preference). So facing the laptop, with the self-appointed assignment to create a blog entry, I remembered something.... Read more

Shamanism - A Heart Path

A new sense of the sacred has appeared in the Western world, one that incorporates spiritual realization, personal growth psychology, and being of service all in one orientation. This spiritual reawakening is generating a real change in attitudes as we move into and rediscover our own spirituality, and it is generally believed that this resurgence of interest in the spiritual, proceeding from the personal to the global, has the power to shift the directions of world history.Read more

Millennium Message

Everyone seems to be sending out inspirational millennium messages these days, so here are some thoughts derived from encounters with members of the modern mystical movement over the past 18 years. These meetings with remarkable people have led me to suspect that there are countless numbers of "evolutionary sleepers" out there in the main stream of humanity, each a holon containing within itself an extraordinary biological-energetic program that can reveal who and what we may all become as the human species continues its ascent toward the culmination of our evolution.Read more

The Power of Soul Retrieval

It is the summer rainy season here on Hawai'i Island, and recently, a friend and I were word-playing, revisiting the well-traveled adage "You can never say Never..."

This brought us to wonder if it was ever appropriate to write the word 'Never' in a sentence. We decided to do so in a way that would create its opposite meaning, reversing its negative connotation to a positive.

My example was: "You can never underestimate the soul's ability to heal." So true. Read more

A New Story for a New Time

Warm greetings from us here on Hawai'i Island. I have just returned from teaching in New York, so the word 'warm' has special meaning.

I am often asked by members of the public at conferences and workshops, and even occasionally by my less timid (or should I say more courageous) academic colleagues, how I, with my training, my anthropological fieldwork, and my advanced degrees from prestigious universities (the University of California at Berkeley and the University of Colorado at Boulder) could abandon my scientific objectivity and "wallow" in superstitious non-science or nonsense.Read more
