The New Mysteries

In thinking about the shape of ‘what has been' from my perspective as an anthropologist, as well as the various possibilities of ‘what's to come' from my perspective as a modern shamanic practitioner and teacher, several givens come up for consideration.

Rain-Making And The 'New Mysteries' Reemerging In Our Times

Last weekend, at a two hour mini-workshop with a small group in Kona focused on ancestors, we happened to mention the previous event where the group had been successful in encouraging the rain. The islands are still in an exceptional drought, and as we discussed the problem, we brought up that success story and lo and behold, it began to sprinkle. The sprinkles turned into a soaker that evening so I think we’re on to something.

Jill and I are in full swing with our teaching schedule now stretching toward Summer, and we have had wonderful sweet groups this Spring - at the Esalen Institute in Big Sur, California; at Breitenbush Hotsprings in Oregon; at the Westerbeke Ranch in Sonoma; at the Studio Maui in Haiku; and a one day shamanic healing workshop in Sacramento.
